Tribute to Suso Cecchi D’Amico at the Walter Reade

Screenwriter Suso Cecchi D’Amico, who died earlier this year at the age of 96, was the leading screenwriter of the second half of the 20th century and worked with directors such as De Sica, Monicelli, Antonioni and Visconti.  From November 26th to December 1st, some of the movies on which she collaborated will be shown as part of a tribute at The Film Society of Lincoln Center.  See the Walter Reade’s website for schedule, tickets and information.

Abruzzo featured in the movie “The American”

This article from La Repubblica discusses the movie The American (opening September 1) starring George Clooney.  Much of the movie was shot in Abruzzo post-earthquake.  The landscape of this region is central to the movie and will be surprising and fascinating to those who don’t know it. Various Italian actors are featured including Violante Placido who plays the part of the woman with whom the protagonist has a torrid affair…

“I Am Love” opens in NYC June 18th

Io sono l’amore (“I Am Love”) opens in NYC on June 18th.  We thought it was a film of beautiful images and details and the story, while over the top, does draw you in.  Read The New York Times’ review.
